Providing Care For Our Families
U Prep is proud to have two health clinics currently operating within our network with a third coming in the fall of 2021. Each of our clinics provides services to our families at no-charge, and mirrors those offered at a primary care physician’s office.
The services that each provide are:
- Physicals/Health Assessments
- Immunizations
- Behavioral Health Services
- Sick Visits
- Primary Care Prevention
- Health Education
The need for housing clinics inside of our schools stems from the reality that all ten of our campuses are located in the heart of the City of Detroit and Wayne County, which according to studies, ranks as one of the most medically underserved counties in the State of Michigan. Through the development of our three clinics, our goal is to close this gap in service, and to promote and provide easy accessibility to healthcare for families up to age 21 in the entire U Prep Schools community. This will result in a reduction to the health care inequalities that often impact our families, and ensure that they have consistent access to high-quality care. From an attendance standpoint, parents will be able to decrease the time they take off from work to transport children to offsite doctor’s appointments. Our scholars will therefore miss school less often.
These clinics operate during regular school hours and are located in:
