    Medical Coverage:
    We have coverage available to fit your needs. Choose from three comprehensive plans and share the cost with U Prep Schools. We also provide employees free access to Blue Care Online Visits, a service that connects you to a national network of U.S. board-certified physicians who can resolve many medical issues via phone or online video consultation.
    Flexible Spending Accounts:
    We provide employees access to flexible spending accounts to put aside tax free dollars for health and dependent care expenses.
    Retirement Savings Plan 401(k):
    With 100% contribution match of 6% up to $6,000 per year after one year of service. All employer contributions are fully vested after 3 years of service.
    Career Development:
    We provide robust career development through intentional Professional Development, ongoing coaching and feedback, and support through Grand Valley State University. GVSU supports our teachers continuing their education by providing 50% to 80% scholarship in the Master of Education and Education Specialist programs for up to 12 credits per academic year.
    Additional Insurance Plans:
    We know more coverage is always better — that is why we also include Dental, Vision, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity and pet insurance for your furry friends to any plan at your request.
    Additional Life Insurance:
    Supplemental life insurance policies can be added on to your U Prep Schools provided life insurance.
    Eight Sick and Four Personal Days:
    We understand– life happens and we provide each employee with 8 sick days a 4 personal days. Unused sick days carry over to the next year and an attendance bonus is awarded for those who have not used more than four sick and personal days combined in a given year.
    Master Teachers Program:
    The objective of this program is to develop master teachers to be culturally responsive, restorative, and possess a highly proficient conceptual understanding of content. The U Prep teacher fellow will develop strong content knowledge, culturally responsive pedagogical practices, and new century teaching skills that will lead to National Board certification. Teachers in this program will eventually be able to mentor other teachers in our network to be more culturally responsive, restorative, and share strong content lessons and practices.

    As a tenured special education teacher with U Prep schools, I am honored to be a member of an innovative and culturally responsive learning community. Our school immerses scholars in deeper learning skills, growth mindset, career exploration, and real-world experiences. The past nine years have provided me with so many opportunities to advocate, teach, and support our exceptional scholars who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. As a U Prep Mentor Teacher and Master Fellow, I have the opportunity to learn, share, and reflect on effective teaching practices to increase student engagement, agency, and voice. I am especially grateful for the celebration of Black Excellence at the U. U Prep is truly transforming the world through education and I am fortunate to be a part of it all

    UPAD Middle School Learning Specialist

    This is my third year as an 8th grade ELA Teacher at U Prep Art & Design. I love teaching in an environment where my growth as an educator is constant. My administration is extremely supportive, and promotes creativity, culturally relevant teaching and pushes me to be my best for my students, which helps them thrive in the classroom and eventually, in life. More than anything, I appreciate that the school community as a whole works collaboratively, and uplifts one another. I feel like I’m a part of a family at U Prep, and that’s important to me.

    Working at University Prep Science and Math Elementary for the past 8 years has been an amazing experience. Knowing that you have the support of your Administrators and co-workers makes all the difference in the world. I have been teaching for the past 30 years and my motto has always been, “Excellence or Nothing at All”. Here at U Prep, our vision has always been, to give every scholar we serve the best support, in order for them to achieve academic excellence and become great leaders.

    This is my seventh year teaching String Orchestra at UPA Middle School. I have grown tremendously as an educator in my seven-years at U Prep, and in those years I have also witnessed the growth in the U Prep Schools network, overall. The work here is transformational for students, families and staff. Our network is filled with dedicated, passionate and hard-working professionals who lead with the highest expectations for every scholar, and a charge to ensure they succeed in life. Our network’s culture and the way in which we care for our students is extraordinary. We’re not just educators, we’re life coaches, cheerleaders, counselors and extended family. We’re the village that helps to bring out the best in every child. We genuinely love and care for our students, and it shows.
