Enrollment Process

THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Open enrollment is designed to give all interested parents an equal opportunity for their scholar(s) to attend U Prep Schools. During open enrollment, all applications receive equal consideration regardless of the date of submission as long as it is received by the deadline. An application received at the end of open enrollment receives equal treatment as one received on the first day of open enrollment.

Following the close of open enrollment, if the number of applications exceeds the number of open seats, a random selection lottery determines acceptance. All other students will be placed on a waiting list. If the number of applications does not exceed the number of open seats, all applicants are accepted for their respective grades. If you are interested in applying for more than one of our three districts, please note that if your student is accepted at one district, they will be automatically declined by the other two districts.

To apply to our schools, you must be a resident of the State of Michigan.

We also highly recommend all new families attend an open house for the school(s) your scholar is applying to.

If your scholar is not five (5) years old by September 1st but will be five (5) years old on or before December 1, your scholar will receive a Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate your scholar’s readiness to determine their success in the University Prep Kindergarten Program. If your scholar is deemed NOT READY and you decide to enroll him/her, you do so understanding that your scholar will be retained if he/she does not meet the requirements of the program by the end of the year.

Scholars are electronically selected at random and applicants are given numbers based on the order in which they are selected. The lottery continues until all scholars have been assigned a number. Meet Some Of Our Parents And Students

“I choose U Prep because I knew my daughter needed a more challenging & personal-based schooling. This was the best decision to take her to the level she needed. I love how the teachers teach at a personal level. They are so supportive and not just in her schooling but in her personal life as well. Through self-empowerment, encouragement, and support from U Prep’s awesome staff, my teens will be able to have the best start to their education.”

-UPA High School Parent

“We want our daughter to be ready for college. U Prep Schools embodies that. Their main goal is to prepare our scholars for the future and set them up for success. Our daughter has always been eager to learn new things and U Prep has challenged her. She’s been introduced to different ways of learning and she is growing so fast already. U Prep offers a sense of community as my daughter loves her school and her Crew!”

-UPA Elementary School, Ellen Thompson Campus Parent

“We enjoy the fact that U Prep’s class sizes are smaller and offer a more intimate learning environment. Our son has enjoyed the opportunity to learn from culturally diverse educators all while having the opportunity to express his scientific side with all the after-school programs that are available. U Prep offers our child the opportunity to develop his leadership skills, to be a change agent within the community, and have the ability to excel in higher education opportunities within the STEM and robotics industry.”

-UPSM Middle School Parent

“We believe that U Prep Schools provide core values, an extensive curriculum that encourages in-depth engagement and diverse learning environments. The vision of U Prep school has a great influence on her education by challenging her with her assignments and developing her problem-solving skills. Attending U Prep has enabled her to experience the value of working hard to set goals, and maintain the discipline necessary to reach them.”
