Lori Koenig joined University Prep Schools (U Prep Schools) in June 2008 as Chief Operations Officer. In this role, Koenig is responsible for managing all aspects of operations including finance, facilities, human resources, IT and compliance.
Koenig came to U Prep Schools from NextEnergy, a non-profit organization whose mission it is to enable the commercialization of alternative energy technologies. There, she served as the organization’s chief financial officer from 2005-2008. In that capacity she was responsible for all financial reporting, financial controls, government contracting, compliance and human resources.
Prior to NextEnergy, Koenig rose through the ranks at Prechter Holdings, Inc. from 1982-2004. There, she served in various financial management positions, the last of which was as its vice president of finance and treasurer. Her responsibilities included: financial reporting, budgeting and accounting operations for the company’s business portfolios, as well as developing and implementing the investment portfolio strategy. In addition to her duties at Prechter Holdings, Inc., she held financial positions with Word Heritage Foundation, the Heinz C. Prechter Fund for Manic Depression and Heritage Development Corp., a real estate development company.
Koenig is a member of the President’s Advisory Council for Walsh College and
served as treasurer for CREW-Detroit from 1997-1999. She is also a founding member of the organization’s Real Estate Excellence Award committee.
Koenig received her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Eastern Michigan University and holds a Master of Science in finance from Walsh College.
